Teresa Ombres , Esq.

Teresa Ombres is a graduate of Fordham University and New York Law School, and is admitted to the practice of law in the States of New York and New Jersey. She began her career in divorce and family law in 1981. In 1996 she discovered a more humane and practical way to handle such cases and started a mediation practice. She was trained in Collaborative Law in 2001. Whether acting as a mediator for a divorcing couple, an attorney in a contested divorce or a collaborative lawyer for a spouse, her goal is to have an amicable, less expensive divorce by using common sense, maintaining civility (between the clients and the lawyers), sharing information and encouraging understanding. Where children are involved there is a special emphasis on protecting them from the harmful effects of divorce. Teresa is a member of the Board of Directors of the Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York, where she chairs the Legislative Committee. She is a founding member of both the New York Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and the New York Collaborative Law Group. She is a guest lecturer at CUNY Law School. Teresa has lived in the Bayside/Whitestone area of Queens since 1978 where she maintains a private practice.
